SHAKO EQUIPAGE TRAIN, model 1872, Third Republic. 27783
Strong cardboard body covered with a thick scarlet cloth sleeve.
On the upper part, 2 cm wide "cul de dé" braid on the top of the shako. On the front of the shako, stamped white iron cockade, painted in the national colors, with a diameter of 4.2 cm, held in place by a flat black square braid and a smooth semi-domed brass button. On the sides, copper tombac ventilators painted in the color of the background cloth.
Chin strap with a golden brass chain doubled with black varnished leather. On the sides and at the back of the shako at the level of the braid, three golden metal lion heads hold the chin strap in place.
Black varnished strong leather visor.
Inner headband in black waxed calfskin. Manufacturer's mark "Alexis Godillot - Paris."
Scarlet horsehair plume, with its woollen olive in the same color.
