These rings are mounted with a thin brass wire, the stitches hidden underneath the leather, on a core of strong black varnished leather, finished with a black varnished calf counter-pad and a buckle with a bar carrying a pin. The two upper rings of the chain, which only show part of their circumference, are associated with a copper rosette 5.3 cm in diameter, bordered with a plain and embossed laurel leaf band. Each strap attaches to the helmet with a copper screw with a hemispherical head.

The concave-based fins form a scalloped edge pierced with two holes for copper screws, with rounded tallow heads, which are secured inside the helmet with nuts. They are adorned with palm leaves and a garland along their upper edge. The rim is adorned with water leaves, all embossed. The fins are stamped with a decreasing sequence of eight flutes. The mask serves as the front junction between the two fins. It is embossed with a highly relieved head of Medusa, topped with a small oak crown, and at the bottom, above the lamp-end of the mask, a low-relief grenade is featured.
