"Since the establishment of the French Infantry, and the Light Cavalry, until the reign of Louis XIV, there is no ordinance or regulation concerning the attire of the rider and the soldier. We only see through the various ordinances issued for payment [...]
Followed by observations on the ordinances of 1666, 1679, 1718, 1722, 1729, with handwritten annotations in the margins.
