NOTE:
This cabinet may have been used by an officer or a naval officer.
During the Continental Blockade against England, mahogany became scarce under the First Empire. The Emperor gave instructions to the Imperial Furniture and the Emperor's Household for the use of French wood in cabinetry. Thus, the cabinetry of the Palace of Meudon and the Pavilion of the Children of France was entrusted to Maigret in 1811 and 1812, where the woodwork was partly painted wood or made of French woods (walnut, ash, maple, elm).
