3rd Hussar Regiment. RECORD OF SERVICES OF Mr. DAVID Jean-Baptiste-Louis, Adjutant Major of said regiment, at the time of August 25, 1811. 32728
Fully handwritten table, with letterhead of the "3rd Hussar Regiment."
Record of services of Mr. David Jean-Baptiste Louis (Adjutant Major of the said Regiment at the time of August 2, 1811) summarizes his wounds and distinguished actions, his effective services, and ranks.
The lower part of the document "Summary" includes two handwritten service attestations:
- One signed by Brigade General Levesque *, Paris, August 26, 1811, "Gen. Bon de La Ferrière."
"I, the undersigned Brigade General, former Colonel of the 3rd Hussar Regiment, certify with as much fairness as pleasure that during all the time I commanded this Regiment, Mr. David, Adjutant Major Captain, consistently demonstrated the greatest dedication and bravery. I always regarded him as one of the best officers in the corps and consistently singled him out as one most worthy of the rewards I could have requested for the Corps. Mr. David has many wounds; the hardships of war have greatly added to them with his great activity! All these reasons combined make it necessary for him to consider retirement; but justice would wish that his good services be further rewarded by obtaining one of the positions mentioned in the Imperial decree of March 8 last. The conduct and knowledge of this brave officer attest to his suitability for the role that would be assigned to him - he has no fortune, and his existence could depend on the Emperor's favors. Paris, August 26, 1811. Signed, Brigade General Laferrière."
*(Count Louis Marie Levesque de Laferrière (or Levesque de La Ferrière or de Laferrière-Levesque), born on April 9, 1776, in Redon and died at the Château de Vallery on November 23, 1834, was a French general.)
- The second signed by Marshal Michel Ney, Duke of Elchingen **, Prince of the Moskova, Paris, August 28, 1811, "Marshal Duke of Elchingen."
"Mr. David, through his services, numerous wounds, bravery, knowledge, deserves the Emperor’s interest, and has rights to obtain rewards from His Majesty, although his health forces him to seek retirement. Paris, August 28, 1811. Signed, Marshal Duke of Elchingen."
** Marshal Michel Ney (Duke of Elchingen, Prince of the Moskova), born in Sarrelouis (Moselle) on January 10, 1769, executed by firing squad in Paris on December 7, 1815.
