This superb book presents 304 collar disks from: the Old Monarchy - the Revolution - the First Empire - the Restoration - the July Monarchy - the Second Republic - the Presidency - the Second Empire - the Third Republic.
Size 21 x 29.7 cm, 120 pages, over 300 black and white photographs and drawings. Semi-matte coated paper 150 gr, cardboard cover with lamination.

The ultimate vestige of medieval armor, which became the coveted distinction of the French infantry officer, this metal crescent called a collar disk was also the symbolic reflection of the political tribulations that France experienced over two and a half centuries. However, it has never been the subject of a thorough study, but this gap is now filled.

Indeed, the book we offer here aims to be a reference work on the subject. Over 300 individual photographs of collar disks are presented; each specimen, which has undergone a meticulous examination, is cataloged and accompanied by an analytical and historical description. This is the result of over five years of research in archives and libraries and the systematic inventory of numerous models and variants of collar disks held within public and private collections.

The quality of its sources and the ease of consultation make this exceptional work an essential tool for collectors passionate about military brassware, general or specialized antiquarians, costume designers, historians, or simply enthusiasts of beautiful objects. It was authored by two reputable experts in the field of antique weapons, uniforms, and military equipment.

Bertrand Malvaux, an expert in historical memorabilia, is, among other things, a specialist in military brassware, co-author of works dedicated to weapons, and also a contributor to numerous French and foreign journals including La Gazette des Armes, Tradition, Military Illustrated, Uniformi, and Militaria Belgica.

As for Michel Pétard, he is a recognized and esteemed specialist in French edged weapons, uniforms, and military equipment, to which he has dedicated several works that are currently considered reference material. For over twenty years, he has also contributed to major specialized journals, including La Gazette des Armes, Uniformes, Tradition, and Figurines.
