OFFICER'S SUBALTERN GRENADIER SHAKO OF THE 120th LINE INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1812 model, First Empire. 32607-1
Made of black felt, bordered at the bottom with a 2 cm black velvet braid, without a tightening buckle at the back as is the case on some shakos tailored to fit the officer. It is covered by a 22.5 cm diameter black waxed cow leather cap folded over the felt and covered with a 3.5 cm wide black velvet braid. Height of the shako including the braid and the folded cap part is 20 cm. Visor (width 6 cm) in embossed black varnished leather with a relief molding on top. Tricolor cockade in silver-scarlet and blue passementerie (Ø 5.5 cm). Front plate model 1812 in matte gilded brass with the protruding parts burnished with agate stone, embossed in relief and cut in the shape of a crowned imperial eagle with outspread wings holding Jupiter's thunderbolt in its talons placed on a shield-shaped base cut with the number "120", bordered by protruding and striated moldings with oak and laurel branches, and on each side, a flaming bomb. Height of the plate 13.5 cm, width 12 cm.
Jugulars composed of a chinstrap in soft leather covered with black velvet and embellished with 15 scales alternately cut into four and five scallops; the scales are sewn onto the leather. Length is approximately 19.5 cm, width of the widest scale 3.3 cm and of the narrowest scale 2 cm, finished with a black silk lace. Round rosettes (Ø 4 cm) stamped in the center with a flaming bomb and bordered with a raised crease.
Interior lining composed of a black waxed leather headband, with a height of 5 cm, topped with a 7 cm beige canvas headband ending with a lace for adjusting the lining.

In fairly good condition, worn interior lining, period braid but re-sewn, unsanded rosettes typical of a non-commissioned officer.
