CIRCULAR COAT OF THE 2nd REGIMENT OF CUlRASSIERS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1854, Second Empire. 32155-1

In madder red cloth, closing straight with five small wooden buttons covered in madder red cloth, sleeve cuffs in boots style (height of the cuffs 10 cm). Half-rolled collar (11 cm wide) with a brass clasp at the base of the collar, a dark blue cloth tab is sewn at each end of the collar forming a buttonhole with a button (missing), allowing the collar to be fastened when worn upright, height of each tab 5 cm, width 7.4 cm.
At hip level, openings made 27 cm high, closing in the middle with a buttonhole, and adorned with a wooden button covered in madder red cloth in the middle as well as at the top. At the back, opening at the bottom center of the garment 56 cm long, closing with four buttons covered in madder red cloth.
Circular piece fixed under the collar, closing straight with four small buttons Ø 1.7 cm in embossed tin of the imperial eagle and the inscription "GARDE IMPÉRIALE", height of the circular piece 54.5 cm.
The back of the coat under the circular piece is dated in black ink with two stamps of the 2nd Cuirassiers of the Guard "2e CR" and the serial number "51/581," other stamps are hardly readable.
Total height of the coat from the bottom of the collar 128 cm. Sleeve length 73 cm.

Good state of preservation, moth holes, repairs including some from the period, one of the cuffs restored.

Former collection of Gabriel CIMETIÈRE, Military Museum of BOURBON-LANCY - Sale on May 17 and 18, 2003 - Master François BRANGER (Angers) - lot n° 407 in the catalog.

NOTE:
This coat model is extremely rare, it saw action in the 1870 campaign. Public collections hold only about four examples, and personally, we are aware of four or five in private collections.
