1 - Arras, the 9th Germinal year 13 (March 30, 1805)
Colonel SCHRAMM*, commanding the 2 elite battalions drawn from the 2nd and 3rd Regiments, writes to Marshal Berthier, Minister of War, on behalf of the Administration Council, in which he reiterates a request to bring Lieutenant LAVERGNE to fill a position left vacant by the departure of a lieutenant named to a higher rank.
He thanks the minister for the appointment of his son to the rank of lieutenant.

* Jean Paul Adam SCHRAMM, born on December 1, 1789 in Arras (Pas-de-Calais) and died on February 25, 1884 in Paris, is a French general of the First Empire and Minister of War, Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor and Military Medal recipient.
2 - Letter with a beautiful vignette addressed to the Minister of War by "Colonel Mel Sylvetre BRAYER**, Legion of Honor officer, colonel of the 2nd Light Infantry Regiment".

The colonel accepts the minister's proposal for the appointment of Mr. PATY to a vacant captaincy. Mr. PATY will replace Captain BOËHME, who has been sent to the depot to await his retirement.

** Michel Silvestre BRAYER, born on December 31, 1769 in Douai in the Nord department and died on November 28, 1840 in Paris, was a French general of the Revolution and the Empire.
[...] the Emperor appoints him colonel of the 2nd Light Infantry Regiment. Leading the vanguard of Marshal Lefebvre in 1806 and 1807, he distinguished himself at the siege of Dantzig and the capture of the island of Nehrung, where he received the Legion of Honor. He also contributed to the success of the Battle of Heilsberg and was severely wounded at the Battle of Friedland.
Transferred to the 1st division of the II Corps of the Army of Spain in 1808, he distinguished himself at the Battle of Burgos and was appointed a Commander of the Legion of Honor two days later. On November 19, at San Vicente, he defeated the Spaniards, inflicting heavy casualties and taking more than 1,000 prisoners. He was promoted to brigadier general on March 26, 1809 [...]
HISTORICAL CONTEXT:
The 2nd Light Infantry Regiment (2nd Light) is a regiment of light infantry of the French army created during the Revolution from the Royal Chasseurs Battalion of Dauphiné, a regiment of the Ancien Régime itself derived from the Royal-Italian Regiment created in 1671.
In 1854, it was transformed and renamed the 77th Infantry Regiment.
