CZAPSKA OF THE TRUMPETER OF THE 30th REGIMENT OF CHASSEURS À CHEVAL DE HAMBOURG, First French Empire. 32588-1
H 24 cm at the front, H 22 cm on the sides, H 18 cm at the back.
Flat and square upper part 25 cm x 25 cm.
Turban 8.5 cm high in black polished leather topped with a cardboard frame covered with ribbed green cloth approximately 13 cm high excluding the curve. The junction of leather and cloth is concealed by a silver braided braid with scalloped edges 3.2 cm wide, placed halfway on a black silk ribbon. The four sides of the headdress are adorned with a silver braided braid, known as soutache, which converges in a cross on top. Each of the top corners is adorned with a silver-plated brass ornament, with the right ornament supporting a hook for raising the chin strap when necessary. On each side of the czapska, a raised relief stamped copper lion head-shaped rosette is placed in a quatrefoil. A silver-plated brass chain forms the chin strap, length 49 cm, Ø about 1.7 cm, attached to the lion's head on the left. A suspension hook for the chain is fixed to the lion's head on the right.
Black polished leather visor, slightly inclined, bordered by a silver-plated brass binding placed on the outer edge for 1 cm of apparent width. Visor width at its center 6 cm.
Woven tricolor cockade with outer silver braid trim, Ø 6.5 cm, sewn on the left side. Attached to the front is a brass plate with relief-stamped rays, H 15 cm x 23 cm, with a central raised copper accessory with a sanded background and a plain frame strip, H 6.8 cm x 11 cm. Clasped in the center of the copper accessory plate is a brass eagle with outspread wings holding Jupiter's thunderbolt in its talons, H 4.2 cm x 7 cm.
Interior composed of a turban in thick brown leather lined with cardboard, 7 cm high, at the base of which the original inner cap was once sewn.
Scarlet woolen pompom, carrot-shaped, H 10 cm, Ø 4 cm.

Good condition, missing inner cap, moth holes on the cap, original cockade but re-sewn.

HISTORY:
The 30th regiment of chasseurs à cheval was created by decree on February 3, 1811, under the name of 30th regiment of chasseurs-lancers. It was formed from the Hamburg dragons, the chasseurs à cheval of the Hanoverian Legion, and conscripts of the 32nd military division. It was still in the process of being organized when a decree on June 18, 1811, transformed it into the 9th regiment of chevau-légers lancers.
