ORIENTAL SABRE, KNOWN AS "PALA", mid-19th century (circa 1854/1855). Inventory number 32999.
Steel hilt. Double horizontal guard. Handle with blonde horn scales and a transverse perforation for the passage of the lanyard cord at the pommel. Curved damascus blade acid-etched near the ricasso with Arabic inscriptions on the obverse "Allah" / "Glory to Allah" / "His servant Turmelin" (the owner), and the name of the blacksmith "Pleuror"; on the reverse "There is no youth except Ali and no sword except Dhul-Fiqar" and the date: "1271" (1854/1855), length 69 cm. Black waxed calf leather scabbard with spring stitching in silver-plated copper thread, fitted with four steel mounts decorated with relief molded lines. Crimson and jonquil corded tassel.

Very good condition, wear on the leather varnish of the scabbard.
