Gilt bronze hilt. Three-branch guard richly decorated with a scale pattern. Ears decorated with an oak branch and a laurel branch. Pommel with a long tail decorated with palmettes and laurel branches with a crown of oak leaves. Curved blade with hollow facets in damask, ending in a fish tail. Richly decorated on its first third with a shiny polished gold background depicting intertwined snakes with palmettes, a dagger in a medallion with a laurel branch, a winged Jupiter's bundle of rods shining and weapons trophies. Faceted back of the blade signed “Mfture Nationale de Klingenthal Coulaux Frères”. Blade length 84.5 cm. Steel scabbard with salient brass throat, two richly decorated gilt brass suspension rings with relief corollas of foliage, palmettes, and flowers, gilt brass rings.
