Bust portrait of a second lieutenant of the 8th Swiss Regiment of the Royal Guard, depicted in a full scarlet uniform with wide silver flat braids at the front, silver buttons bearing the Arms of France, scarlet collar, silver epaulet and shoulder strap with scarlet lining, Royal Guard high collar.

The canvas is in very good condition, re-stretched. Frame is in poor condition with some damages.
NOTE:
This high-quality portrait features a unique uniform detail: it displays an infantry line high collar with a gold plate and silver Arms of France instead of the standard high collar for the Swiss regiments with a silver plate and gold Arms (the colors are inverted).
