SIGNED AUTOGRAPH LETTER BY PRINCE DE ROSENBERG regarding the request for the exchange of Captain Baumgartner, prisoner of war. 18910-23
Prince de Rosenberg recalls previous requests for the release of Captain "Baumgartner" (also spelled Laumgartner in the letter), who was taken as a prisoner of war. He is firming up the conditions for the exchange of Captain Sult until a decisive response is received.
"General,
I have asked you three times for the exchange of Captain 'Laumgartner,' taken as a prisoner of war on the 8th of this month. His Royal Highness Archduke Charles has kindly interceded for this officer, and despite being promised a satisfactory response, it has not yet been provided. In general, sir, you ask us for favors time and time again, and you are never in the mood to reciprocate. As we are not in a position to have laws dictated to us by you gentlemen, I am sending Captain Wolfram to you, refusing the exchange of Captain Sult until I receive a favorable and decisive response regarding the exchange of Captain 'Baumgartner,' as well as the requests I have previously addressed to you concerning the fate of Lieutenant Colonel Fegettsof of the Grenadiers and Major Platten of the Bender Infantry. Please accept, sir, the assurance of my consideration.
The General and Commander of the Vanguard Prince de Rosenberg."
