A signed letter from Dupin addressed to the Consuls of Issoire, Clermont on June 10, 1747.

The letter discusses the lodging of the prisoners, their guard by the townspeople, and the discipline to be observed.

"I am informing you, Gentlemen, that on July 8, 30 Dutch officers and 407 prisoners of war will arrive in Issoire, escorted by five brigades of the constabulary. According to the distribution of these prisoners, there should remain in Issoire 170, and 18 officers; the rest will depart on the 9th to go to Brioude escorted by 3 brigades of the constabulary and 30 armed peasants under your command to march on the wings of the road and prevent any prisoner from straying from the path; I am sending Mr. Lafont instructions that he will share with you outlining how these prisoners should be lodged, what should be provided for them ...].
Signed "Dupin".

Historical Background:
[...] Campaigns of 1746, 1747, and 1748
The French army — 120,000 men under the command of Maurice de Saxe — conquered the entire territory belonging to Austria, Guelders (United Provinces), and Luxembourg after three successive campaigns.
In early 1746, military operations resumed in Brabant: Brussels (February 22, 1746), followed by Malines and Antwerp. The troops then moved back to Hainaut. In July, Mons fell (July 11, 1746), followed by Saint-Ghislain and Charleroi. The action continued towards Namur (captured on September 30, 1746), then towards Rocourt, northwest of Liège. On October 11, 1746, the Austrian army, commanded by Charles Alexander of Lorraine, was defeated at the Battle of Rocourt.
The gateway to the United Provinces was open: the threat materialized with the fall of Berg-op-Zoom on September 18, 1747, and Maastricht on May 7, 1748.
On July 2, 1748, Marshal Saxe won the Battle of Lauffeld near Tongres.
