"The Chief General wanting to give a testimony of the Government's satisfaction to Citizen Brun, Battalion Commander of the 12th half Brigade of Light Infantry for the important services he has rendered to the Army of Egypt and the distinguished conduct he has held there:
Appoints Citizen Brun, Battalion Commander to the rank of Brigade Commander.
Consequently, as of this day, he will enjoy the emoluments and prerogatives attributed to his new rank.
The Minister of War is informed of this appointment & confirmation is requested by the Chief General, as well as the definitive Patent.

* François-Étienne Damas, born on June 22, 1764 in Paris, where he died on December 22, 1828, is a French general of the Revolution and the Empire. Son of a master joiner, he became a general at 29 years old. He distinguished himself during the siege of Mainz (1793), the campaign in Egypt with Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as during the campaign in Russia in 1812, notably at the crossing of the Berezina.
