Also included is a letter with the letterhead of the 70th Line Infantry Regiment, dated 6 vendémiaire year 14 (28 September 1805), signed by the administration council of the regiment, Troop Inspection Office. Accompanying letter for the state of affairs report (not included) of the regiment as of the first vendémiaire year 14 addressed to "His Excellency Marshal Berthier, Minister of War, in Paris."

The 70th infantry regiment is a French Army infantry regiment created during the French Revolution from the Médoc regiment, a French regiment of the Ancien Régime.

The 70th was at the 1st Battle of Porto, 29 March 1809.
The 70th was at the 2nd Battle of Porto, 12 May 1809. (143 men were taken prisoner by the English).
- 1810: Spanish War of Independence.
The 70th was at the siege of Astorga, April 1810.
The 70th was at the siege of Almeida, July 1810.
The 70th was at the Battle of Buçaco (Coimbra), 27 September 1810. (220 men were taken prisoner by the English at the Coimbra hospital on 7 October.)
- 1811: Spanish War of Independence.
55 men from the 4th battalion perished in a snowstorm at the Foz-Giraldo mountain pass, Portugal, during the night of 01 to 2 February 1811.
The 70th was at the Battle of Sabugal, 3 April 1811. (72 men were taken prisoner by the English)
