Milan, May 1st, 1811.
The colonel acknowledges the appointment of two second lieutenants, Messrs. Bande and Raoul. There are still two positions of second lieutenant to be filled, and he submits two proposals for Messrs. Gaffet and Bailly.
Handwritten note on the back "Reply that one cannot approve appointing trumpeters unless the number of students necessary to fill the complete lack of trumpeters is reached."
Double folio (reinforced central fold), 2 pages of writing. Red ink stamp "Approved May 10".
* JOSEPH-MARIE DE SAVOIE-VILLAFRANCA. A career military man since his youth, he became a second lieutenant of the 33rd regiment of dragoons, lieutenant of the 10th hussars regiment, captain of the 8th hussars regiment in 1810, and colonel of the 6th hussars regiment. He participated with the 6th hussars in the Hundred Days and was promoted to the rank of brigadier general starting from 1821.

Report of the lack of trumpeters in the 5th Squadron, and no trumpet instructor to train students, as the one from the Regiment had been killed in the Campaign.
Good condition, fold marks. Red ink stamp "Approved Jan. 16".

Vesoul, February 8, 1813.
A detachment of 31 men arrived at the Corps on August 25th of the previous year from the 62nd Cohort of the National Guard, stationed in La Rochelle. The Administrative Council had already reported "the lack of clothing and shoes for these men, without receiving a single reply".
Handwritten note at the end of the letter on the back "Write to the Regiment's depot where the 62nd Cohort entered, or to the Central Council of the Cohorts of the Division it belonged to."
Good condition, fold marks. Red ink stamp "Approved Feb. 11".

The 6th hussars regiment (or 6th RH) is a French cavalry unit created during the Revolution from hussars defending Liberty and Equality, also known as light cavalry, Boyer's light troops or Boyer's legion named after its colonel Étienne Gabriel Boyer.
