HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The 24th Infantry Regiment (24th IR) is an infantry regiment of the French Army created on April 26, 1775, in Strasbourg under the name Brie, during the reign of King Louis XVI. Dissolved on June 13, 1997, it was reactivated and recreated on June 27, 2013.

BIOGRAPHY:
Jean-Baptiste JAMIN, born on May 20, 1772, in Villécloye, Meuse, and died on January 30, 1848, in Paris, was a French Empire general and politician of the 19th century.
* [...] Transferred to the 1st corps of the Spanish army, he participated in the wars of 1809, 1810, 1811, and part of 1812 in the Iberian Peninsula. He distinguished himself in the battles of Reinosa, Somosierra, and particularly on January 16, 1809, in the Battle of Uclés where his regiment captured twenty-one flags. Commended at the head of the bulletin, which expressed about the officers who distinguished themselves in this battle: "all officers whose courage has been tested in a hundred battles, he demonstrates new acts of bravery on July 28 at the Battle of Talavera de la Reina, and then participates in the siege of Cadiz, where new battles are fought every day". His services there earned him the appointment as a Commander of the Legion of Honor on June 23, 1810. On March 5, 1811, he was shot in the right shoulder, but it did not prevent him from defending against the attacks of General Graham with two battalions of his regiment, who, along with the English, Portuguese, and Spanish forces, sought to capture the positions of Barrosa. Shortly after, he was ordered to take command of the Ronda district, which he defended with his regiment against the attacks of General Francisco Ballesteros.
Jamin was created Baron of the Empire on April 26, 1811, with an endowment[...]
