"JAMIN, Major of the 12th Light Infantry Regiment, Member of the Legion of Honor, commanding the Corps, To His Excellency the Marshal of the Empire Minister of War."
Nantes, 18 Messidor year 12 (July 7, 1804)
"Excellency. I have the honor to request that you expedite the appointment of the officers proposed to fill the vacant positions which are at the discretion of His Imperial Majesty, the list of which I had the honor of sending you last Messidor 7, and which still remain unfilled except for the one to replace Captain Duquel, which is being filled by Mr. Briffaut, a captain from the 25th Regiment of our branch.
As compensation for this lost position for the Regiment's officers, Mr. Benoit, a lieutenant for whom General Gouvion has been advocating for a long time, could be promoted to captain as a replacement for the one who came from the 12th Regiment.
The service's interest requires that these promotions not be delayed, and I urge you to consider my request.
I have the honor to respectfully salute you.
Signed: Jamin."
