OTTOMAN SABER KNOWN AS "KILIJ", TURKEY, early 19th century. 30284
Symmetrical silver hilt with ear-shaped guards and double horizontal quillon with buttons. Handle with horn plates, a transverse perforation at the top allowing for the passage of a wrist cord. Curved damascus blade measuring 81.4 cm, 3.6 cm wide at the base, engraved on the first quarter on one side with a cartouche inscribed in Arabic and on the other side a medallion enclosing a lion, reminiscent of the name of Assad Allah, a famous armorer.
Wooden scabbard with brown leather covering, adorned with two large fittings and two silver belt loops engraved with foliage motifs, scalloped edges with moldings.
Turkey. Early 19th century.
