CHASSEURS À CHEVAL'S 13th REGIMENT SADDLE CLOTH, model of 4th December 1868, Third Republic. 31124
Consists of three elements: the saddle cloth, the croupiere, and the coat carrier, all three made of sky blue cloth and madder red cloth.
Saddle cloth bordered with a 4.2 cm wide madder red braid and piped on its outer edge with madder red cloth. Absence of the two leather pieces known as "frog closures." Variant for non-commissioned officer. Black leather stirrup covers, rounded in shape, lined with white and blue striped cloth and a band of ochre leather edging the inner flap of the saddle cloth. This ochre section is complete with four black lacquered iron buckles. Black leather adjustment straps on one of the flaps, with a brass buckle with a single prong.
Height 65 cm, width at top 43 cm, width at bottom 37 cm, stirrup covers height 18.5 cm.
Croupiere bordered and piped similar to the saddle cloth, with a hunting horn embroidered in madder red thread in the lower corner (hunting horn: width 13 cm, height 7.5 cm). Absence of regiment number since 1861, confirmed by publication on 1st October 1864. Black leather strapping between the legs, trapezoid in shape, width 45 cm, front height 14.5 cm, rear height 44.5 cm. Croupiere lining identical to the saddle cloth with reinforced black leather in lower corners. Complete with its four tan leather straps sewn at the front, designed to attach to the saddle cloth.
Coat carrier made of sky blue cloth, piped madder red, width 52 cm, Ø 13.5 cm. Round-shaped edges decorated with a hunting horn in madder red cloth sewn on (hunting horn width 10 cm, height 6.5 cm). Complete with three black leather straps allowing closure with three iron buckles with central prong. Interior pocket closing with eight cords passing through a large 41 cm x 3 cm leather loop. Coat carrier lining in ecru fabric, dated "1879" with stamp of the 13th regiment "13e RCH" and marked "234."
