ROUND COAT OF THE 1st REGIMENT OF CHASSEURS À CHEVAL, Second Empire. 23088
Made of white cloth, closing straight with five wood buttons covered in white cloth, sleeve cuffs in boot form (height of the cuffs 10.5 cm). Half-chevalier collar (12.5 cm wide) with a steel hook at the base of the collar, a white cloth tab is sewn at each end of the collar forming a buttonhole with a wood button covered in white cloth, allowing the collar to be closed when worn upright, height of each tab 6 cm, width 8 cm.
At hip level, openings made 27 cm high, closing in the middle with a buttonhole and adorned with a wood button covered in white cloth in the middle and at the top. At the back, an opening at the lower middle of the garment 55 cm long closing with four buttons. In the middle of the back, a button is sewn.
Fixed round sewn under the collar, closing straight with four buttons, height of the round 50 cm.
The back of the coat under the round is dated 1862 in black ink (now turned brown) by two stamps "62," "1862." It has been registered several times: two initial registration numbers that have been crossed out "1141," "575," then definitively registered "1034," a smaller stamp carries the number "348" in black ink. Three stamps from chasseurs à cheval regiments: one from the 1st regiment "1st R. de C," a second from the 7th regiment "7th R. de C," a third with an illegible regimental number. Name written in black ink "JAILLAR" (or Gaillar).
Total height of the coat 125 cm. Length of the sleeves 66 cm.

Good to very good condition, some moth holes and repairs mainly at the back, period repair with a patch (height 10 cm x 16 cm) on the coat at the level of the right arm.
Note: given the rarity and type of garment effect, we can consider this coat to be in very good condition.
NOTE:
This coat model has hardly changed since 1828. In 1845, the length of the round was increased by 40 mm; vertical pocket tabs close with one button instead of two, and a sixth buttonhole is made on each front, in order to fasten the coat tails to the pocket buttons when the man is on foot.
