* Baron Charles Joseph CHRISTIANI, born in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) on February 27, 1772 (1772-1840). Initially a simple soldier in the armies of the Revolution, he rose to the highest ranks during the Napoleonic wars: appointed colonel on June 5, 1809, then brigadier general on August 30, 1813, and finally major commanding the 2nd regiment of Grenadiers on foot of the Imperial Guard.
He distinguished himself particularly at the Battle of Wagram and during the Russian campaign.
