Memorandum in favor of Louis Marie GOURNAY, born in 1775 in Boulogne, department of Pas-de-Calais. Done in Paris on March 31, 1809.
- Grounds for this request: "This sailor experiences frequent chest pains since a... passed over this part of the body; furthermore, he is affected by rheumatic pains and infirmities, a result of the last campaign, rendering this sailor unfit to continue his service."
- Joined the service on April 17, 1790 as a Second Class sailor. Completed several cruises.
- Summary of services and campaigns on State vessels, a commercial ship, and in the Imperial Guard.
- Certificate from the medical officer regarding his physical condition.
On the last page, handwritten note "By us, Marshal of the Empire, Colonel General of the Imperial Guard" signed "Bessières."

Good condition, creases, 1.5 cm tear at the bottom of the central fold.
