Leather shako covered with black cloth, 20 cm tall at the front and 22 cm at the back, with a yellow (3.5 cm wide) braid at the top and a leather chinstrap (2 cm wide) at the bottom. Crown, Ø 23 cm, with a black waxed leather visor, 5.5 cm wide. Cockade (Ø 6.9 cm) of embossed white lacquered iron depicting a radiant sun, model 1818. Brass plate, model 1823, featuring a coat of arms with three fleur-de-lis topped with a royal crown and framed by laurel branches; at the bottom, a shield-shaped base with the number "43" in the center, plate height 14 cm, width 11 cm. It is attached to the shako by a wide brass tab that slides into a leather sheath sewn onto the crown. Brass chinstraps consisting of a rosette stamped with a fleur-de-lis and leather chin scales alternatingly cut into 15 scallops. Inner lining composed of a black waxed leather headband topped with a beige canvas cap.
