Bust portrait of a captain of cuirassiers depicted wearing a cuirass of the Royal Guard cuirassiers (glory in brass with the arms of France and Navarre), displaying the cross of a Knight of the Legion of Honor and an officer of the Military Order of Saint Louis. He is holding under his left arm his officer's 1825 cuirassier helmet, which has the peculiarity of having a headband of a Royal Guard cuirassier helmet model 1825. H 100 cm x 81 cm.

NOTE:
This officer is most certainly a former officer of the Royal Guard cuirassiers whom he has kept the cuirass, modifying the shoulder pads and his helmet, changing the crest to the line model.
ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:
CADEAU René, painter of genre and portraits, born in Angers on February 15, 1782, died in Paris on October 28, 1858. Student of Pierre Guérin. He exhibited at the Salon between 1819 and 1849. Among his genre paintings, there are mentioned: "An Unhappy Family" - "The Little Sleeper".
