KNIGHT'S CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR OF CAPTAIN FLOURY (August 20, 1874), 1871-1946, Third Republic. 31169
Silver star with five double-pointed pommeled rays, enameled in white, framed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves in light green enamel. Obverse center in gold depicting the profile portrait of the Republic facing left, bordered by a blue enamel band with the inscription in gold letters "FRENCH REPUBLIC 1870". Reverse center featuring two crossed enameled tricolor flags, bordered by a blue band with the inscription "HONOR AND COUNTRY".
Suspension loop in the shape of a branch of laurel and oak leaves enameled in green, independent and topped with a small ball pierced by the suspension ring.
Scarlet silk ribbon.
Presented in a golden ocher morocco leather box stamped "COLONEL DE BUSSEROLLE / TO MR. CAPTAIN FLOURY 20 AUGUST 1874".
Total height with suspension loop 5.7 cm, Ø 3.9 cm.

Eugène Désiré FLOURY. Born on October 2, 1834, in Rouen (Seine Inférieure). Died on February 13, 1919.
Captain in the 22nd Infantry Regiment.
Knight of the Legion of Honour on August 20, 1874.
Graduated from the Special Military School as a student on November 12, 1853. Passed the exit exam from the School with number 217.
Joined as a second lieutenant in the 22nd Infantry Regiment on January 31, 1855, promoted to the rank of lieutenant on December 21, 1858, and to the rank of captain on September 30, 1866.
Campaign against Germany from July 19, 1870, to July 17, 1871.
Taken as a prisoner of war from September 2, 1870 (Sedan) to July 17, 1871. Wounded on August 30, 1870, in the battle of Mouzon (contusions on the right side of the abdominal wall).
