Helmet entirely made of steel. It consists of a dome, a visor, a neck guard both encircled with a brass rim folded over the outer edge, a headband, two chinstraps, a crest, a mane of black horsehair approximately 52 cm long, and a plume holder.
All fittings are brass.
The dome is stamped in two parts welded together, with a suction hole inside for ventilation. Visor lined with black waxed leather as well as the neck guard.
Front brass headband embossed with a radiant sun motif in the center where the imperial eagle with outstretched wings perched on Jupiter's thunderbolt is placed. In the lower part of the headband, a banner bears the inscription "GARDE DE PARIS."
Back headband in brass without decoration but framed with a relief beaded molding.
The crest consists of two fins embossed with a decreasing sequence of eight oval-shaped drops, each separated by the same motif but smaller, with foliage and laurel leaves in the rear part; from the back of the fin rises, in the upper and lower parts, a water leaf letting escape a twisted molding at the top.
Each fin is attached to the dome by four steel screws; the mask is embossed with an upward-pointing laurel branch and fixed at the bottom by a brass screw. Cover plate in undecorated brass.
Crest ornament consisting of an embossed brass olive with foliage, a brass socket embossed with laurel leaves, and a scarlet horsehair plume.
The chinstraps consist of two strong cowhide leather straps covered with black waxed leather each interlaced with a figure-eight chain. They are attached to the dome by a steel screw and a round brass rosette embossed with a radiant sun.
Brass tubular plume holder slightly tapering towards the bottom.
Interior leather liner cut into nine wolf's teeth.
