Body made of cardboard covered in taupe-colored felt, height 16 cm, bordered at the top with a 2 cm wide scarlet braid, and at the bottom with a 2.8 cm high black varnished leather chinstrap. Black varnished leather visor, lacquered green underneath, in a round shape. Tricolor metal cockade, diameter 5 cm. Front plate made of tinned and embossed copper depicting a Gallic rooster standing on a globe with the number "I" and a bundle of flags, a bundle of fasces with the motto "FRENCH REPUBLIC" cut out. Plate height 12 cm. Black varnished leather top. Jugulars composed of two chin straps wrapped in black velvet and covered with embossed tinned copper plates featuring a decreasing series of scalloped scales; each chin strap is attached to the shako by a round rosette stamped with a flaming grenade, with a double tongue fixed at the back that folds inside the body. Interior liner made of black varnished sheepskin cut into eight points, body lined with burgundy paper.
