SECOND LIEUTENANT'S KEPI FROM MILITARY PRISONS, model 1872, Third Republic. 27823
In carmine cloth with a black cloth band, decorated at the front with an embroidered insignia in golden threads and bullion depicting a sword and two crossed keys framed by an oak branch and a laurel branch. Band topped with a gold trim braid. Carmine cloth cap decorated with a mixed black and gold braid forming a Hungarian knot. Headgear adorned on all four sides with a mixed black and gold braid. False chinstrap in gold trimmings, with gold brass half-bell buttons. Black varnished leather visor in a round shape, lined underneath with a green waxed sheepskin. Interior headband composed of black varnished leather at the top and a pale green silk cap. Cap lined with a black varnished sheepskin stamped with the manufacturer's mark "FÉLIX 27 RUE DES MARCHANDS AVIGNON".

Fair condition, some moth holes and dirt on the carmine cloth, missing part on the interior band, worn interior headgear.
