HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The Champ de Mai was the assembly held in 1815, during the Hundred Days, at the Champ de Mars in Paris, following the ancient Champ de Mai traditions, during which Emperor Napoleon I proclaimed, in the presence of delegations from all electoral colleges and army units, the Additional Act to the constitutions of the Empire. This assembly, announced for May 26, 1815, could only take place on June 1.
