Brass hilt. Guard with four branches forming a shell and decorated with laurel branches and a Medusa head. Short-tailed pommel. Ebony handle with copper filigree. Straight nickel-plated blade with fullers, length 87 cm, acid-etched with foliage and the inscription "Promotion Mangin 1931" on its first third. Natural buffalo tie. Nickelled steel scabbard with a suspension ring.

NOTE:
Out of this promotion of 431 students, including 15 foreigners and 19 repeaters from the Foch promotion, around forty of them will choose aviation. There are 61 officers recorded as deceased between 1929 and 1959, with 23 in 1939-1940 including Captain Albert GILBERT from the Fighter Squadron.
