The soldier ROUTIER: dragoon in the 5th regiment, 5th company in the 4th Corps of Spain's Army. The letter is dated "In Baza on July 14, 1810."

He provides his news, apologizes for not writing sooner, and gives little information on the military situation:

"[...] As for me, I will tell you that we are currently at the outposts 16 hours from Grenade and quite well, thank God. Please let me know if Mr. Droin's son, the farmer, has left for the conscription [...]"
