"Since my last letter to you from Seville on July 14, our Regiment has made many movements, our 1st Battalion, 2nd company of the 2nd & the 27th Regiment of Chasseurs à cheval, went to replace other troops in a small fort called Moguer on the coast, 18 leagues from here and west of Cadiz, around August 20th the English landed with 6 thousand Spanish troops near that place, who attacked our men, they retreated without losing anyone, except a post of 10 to 12 men who were taken or slaughtered, due to the mistake of the adjutant-major who had not withdrawn it, then Prince d'Harenberg * colonel of the 27th Chrs who was in command wanted to advance on the enemy who had 4 to 5 times more troops, forced our men to retreat three leagues from here...".
