Great Army. LETTER FROM CAPTAIN BRUNO DAST, 1st regiment of Tirailleurs of the Imperial Guard, TO HIS MOTHER residing in Toulouse, written from the camp of Solkwitz (Germany) on June 24, 1813. 18856-32
Letter with the recipient's address "To Madame / Madame Dast née Pérignon / street (???) / In Toulouse / Department of Haute Garonne / In France". Postal mark in red ink "No. 6 GRANDE ARMÉE".
The captain begins his letter by informing his mother of his appointment as a Knight of the Legion of Honor, and as a captain in the 1st Regiment of Tirailleurs of the Imperial Guard:
"… it's not an advantage in terms of pay, but it is much more pleasant to serve in this Regiment for several reasons, firstly, they are more beautiful and better kept, after a peace, they head straight to the Capital, also closer to His Majesty, finally many other reasons that I could mention to you which delight me in this change. However, I was very well in the 144th, this request would never have been made if General Roguet * hadn't been kind enough to call me there. Leaving the regiment, I am satisfied to see that all my superiors have expressed their regrets and sent me to my new colonel with a letter written in my favor....
I haven't heard from you in a long time...
In our regiment there are three captains from Toulouse, Mr. Albert de St Cyprien and Mr. Vivent. I will also tell you that I saw Bonnet very well and healed from his wounds. He is in the 151st in Glogau*, Mr. Duparc is also doing very well, he is still a captain of the Old Guard [...].
Signed: Dast Capne"
