OFFICER'S HELMET OF THE NATIONAL GUARD ON HORSEBACK, model 1814-1830, Restoration period. 27695-1
Helmet made of silver-plated copper, with all fittings in gilt brass. Height of the helmet 16 cm. It is stamped in two parts welded together at the top.
Front plate depicting a large oval shield in the center of which a silver-plated copper fleur-de-lis is affixed, this shield is topped with the royal crown and framed on each side by a palm branch and an oak branch.
Rear band with raised relief molding.
Visor in silver-plated copper, lined with green waxed leather and encircled by a band bent over the outer edge.
Neck guard identical to the visor, lined with black waxed leather, encircled by a band bent over the outer edge.
Chin straps composed of two fine leather chin straps covered in scalloped gilt brass sections; two rosettes shaped like a radiating sun in gilt brass with a fleur-de-lis in silver-plated copper affixed at the center. Finished with a black cotton cord.
Plume holder tubular in shape with a square section tapering towards the base, decorated at the top with molded ribbon.
Crest in three parts: two wings and a mask. Two wings embossed in relief with a decreasing series of nine gadroons topped with a pearl. Height of the wings 10 cm. The lower part is folded outwards, scalloped, and fixed to the helmet with 4 gilt brass screws. Mask decorated with protruding moldings and equipped with a hook at the bottom; it is attached to the helmet at the bottom with a rivet.
Black horsehair plume extending approximately 9 cm from the crest.
Interior lining composed of a black waxed calf band cut into nine "wolf teeth".
Total height of the helmet 34 cm.

Very good condition, the brass parts have retained their gilt, superb helmet, a dent on the right side, worn interior lining, two "wolf teeth" missing.
NOTE:
This helmet has a simplified crest decoration, its convex upper part is steeper than usual giving it a more compact shape typical of provincial helmets.
