KEPI OF THE ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE, model 1872, Third Republic. Inventory number 27830.
Kepi made entirely of black wool. Band topped with a 2 cm wide woven gold lizard patterned braid. Crown decorated with a Hungarian knot in gold braid, framed by gold braid; the cap is adorned with four vertical gold braids. Simulated false chinstraps with sewn gold braid. Visor in black polished leather lined with green waxed sheepskin. Interior headband in black waxed calf leather with gold stamping in the upper part. Kepi lined with fine printed ochre cloth under the crown labeled "M G".
