PAIR OF OFFICER'S PISTOLS SIGNED LAROCHE IN PARIS, Former Monarchy. 30098
Round barrels with flat sides near the breech then fully rounded, slightly swelled at the muzzle. They are engraved and gilded with a trophy of arms, the signature "Laroche / A Paris" and ribbons of fleur-de-lis, all on a blued background. Barrel length 19.6 cm, with the breech tang 24.5 cm. Locks signed "La Roche Paris." Carved walnut stocks with foliage scrolls. Swan-neck cocks. Round pans. All silver-mounted fittings decorated in relief with military trophies, foliage, and flowers. Long-eared butt caps. Buttcaps depicting a Turkish warrior. Whalebone ramrods with polished iron tips.
Overall length of each pistol 33.5 cm.

Very good condition, gilding on the barrels worn in places; on one of the pistols: two trigger guard screws replaced in the past and a repair on one side along the barrel for 6.5 cm x 8 mm wide.
NOTE: LAROCHE IN PARIS Jean (son) is a gunsmith who initially works with his father before succeeding him at the Louvre galleries.
