Made of black felt, edged on its outer parts with a 3.2 cm wide black silk braid. Tricolor passementerie cockade with a diameter of 8 cm. Gilt braid of 3.7 cm wide with a black silk stripe in its center, attached at the bottom by a 2.5 cm diameter gilt brass uniform button, struck with the numeral "11". Interior headband in black patent leather and a black silk cap marked "BRANIER / Saumur".
Height at the front 12 cm, height at the back 18.5 cm, length 44 cm, width 15.5 cm.

The 11th Dragoon Regiment (11e RD) is a cavalry unit of the French army, established during the Revolution from the Angoulême Dragoon Regiment, a French cavalry regiment of the Old Regime.
Second Empire:
During the 1870 war, it was part of the 4th army corps. In 1870, it was incorporated into the Army of the Rhine. The regiment took part in the battles of Borny-Colombey, Rezonville, and Saint-Privat.
The regiment was captured during the surrender of the stronghold of Metz.
