Twisted barrel, similar to the Model IX musket but elongated, 102.7 cm, length with the breech tail 108 cm, caliber 17.5 mm, dated "1817", stamped "DT" by the inspector Dombret, 1814-1818, "N" by the inspector Nottret, 1816-1818 and star-stamped "H" by the controller Hardy, 1814-1818. Breech tail with no decoration or inscription.
Lock of the musket Model IX engraved "Manuf Royale De Versailles", stamped "G" under a Germain starred controller, 1812-1818, with ordinary brass pan. All fittings are silver-plated brass, following the model of the rifle an XIII but with lighter proportions (nozzles, sling swivels, nose cap, side plates), all stamped "H" of the second controller Hardy. Half-stocking in demi-Charolais form. S-shaped counter plate. Buttplate with a return terminated by a fleur-de-lys. Oval-shaped thumb piece, embossed with the Arms of France and the inscription "VIVE LE ROI" (Long live the king).
Attribution plate on the cheek beside the lock engraved "Given by the KING to Mr. BERNARD Jean."
Stock of the Model IX system, thinner, marked with "JD".
Iron ramrod. Total length of the rifle 143.4 cm.
Whitened buffalo strap, width 2.8 cm, stitched on each side, ending at one end with a half-loop in brass with a prong and at the other end with a double brass button. Strap length 82 cm.
Bayonet with a 37 cm blade, for a total length of 45 cm.

BERNARD Jean, farmer in the town of Beaurepaire, department of Vendée, division La Gaubretière, rank of captain. Born in Landes-Génusson, born in 1774, died on January 22, 1837 in Beaurepaire. Son of Pierre and Perrine Desfontaines, widower of Pélagie Boudaud, married to Marie Girardeau.
