MUSKET OF THE KING'S HOUSEHOLD GUARDS, model 1814, Restoration period. 29994

Eight-sided barrel at the breech then round, entirely blued, bearing the manufacturer's stamp of Charleville at the breech in gold "P" under a star of the inspector at Charleville Jean-Nicolas Pache (1814-1815), "B" in an oval of the cannon controller at Charleville from 1806 to 1821 Étienne Breuil, and the "F" under a star (?); it is adorned with gold damascene decorations, engraved with a garland net at the breech, then with the large crowned arms of France, barrel length 102.7 cm, length with the breech tang 108.7 cm. Caliber 17 mm.
Flintlock mechanism stamped "M" under a star, signed "MANUFre Rle DE CHARLEVILLE", brass drum-shaped pan; angled breech tang.
Walnut stock with a long barrel, inspection mark of the manufacturer on the oval-shaped stock with the letters "MC".
All fittings in an alloy of brass known as "Manheim gold", attached to the stock by steel springs, iron trigger guards.
Brass under guard cut in the shape of a stylized fleur-de-lis on its front part of the trigger guard.
Rear of the butt plate cut in the shape of a fleur-de-lis and engraved.
All screws with guilloche iron heads and tips.
Iron ramrod.
Total length of the musket 143.5 cm.

Socket bayonet in iron, length of the iron 36.5 cm, total length 44 cm.

Perfect condition, the barrel retains all its colors, the bluing has oxidation marbling.

NOTE:
The muskets of the door guards are briefly described in Titeux's work "History of the King's Military House". This model is not covered by Jean Boudriot. The musket we present is quite unique, similar to the first model bodyguard musket but the barrel lacks the inscription of the corps, it only bears the arms of France, which is why we attribute it to the door guards.
