OFFICER'S INFANTRY COLLAR RAISE, Old Monarchy, circa 1755-1765. 30892
Gilt bronze plate decorated in its center with a silver royal crown and three riveted fleur-de-lis on the plate. Silver-plated back of the plate. Complete with a pair of buttons in silver passementerie.
France.
Old Monarchy.
Good condition, with accidents and missing parts on two fleur-de-lis, buttons from the Restoration period.
NOTE:
This ornamentation, made up of independent elements, was very fashionable throughout the army during the period 1755-1765 and was used on many uniform items, such as buttons or horse harnesses. It is, for example, the same decoration attributed in 1767 for the buttons on the coats of the invalid companies.
This specimen was illustrated in the book "The French Collar Raise, Bertrand Malvaux - Michel Pétard" Editions du Canon 1997 Nantes, figure 16, page 25.
