Blackened and varnished leather case, smooth brass sides, black waxed leather flap bordered by a brass rim with the center displaying the insignia of the Medical Service representing the caduceus of physicians composed of the serpent of Asclepius coiled around a rod, symbol of the tree of life, topped with the mirror of Prudence and framed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves. Dimensions: height 12.5 cm, width 17.5 cm, thickness 5 cm. Varnished and blackened leather band with black velvet lining, fittings in gold-plated brass, lion's head embossed in relief holding in its mouth a triple chain linked to a crest bordered by a twisted molding with the center displaying the Medical Service insignia.
