DRAGOON TROOP HELMET, model 1825 modified 1830, previously transformed for Firefighters, July Monarchy. 27698

Helmet entirely made of brass. Band stamped with a flaming bomb framed by laurel and oak branches.
Visor and neck guard each bordered with a brass strip folded over the outer edge, lined with black leather.
Crest made of stamped brass, composed of a mask bearing a palmette topped with a relief head of Medusa; two wings stamped with a decreasing series of 13 gadroons framed by pearls and drops. Each wing is attached to the bomb with a steel screw. Mask attached to crest with an iron screw.
Plume holder (referred to as "crest ornament" from 1844) in brass composed of a lens decorated with palmettes, a socket with laurel branches and palmettes, and a tuft of black horsehair.

Brass interlocked 8-shaped chin scales mounted on a leather chinstrap; brass rosette stamped with a radiant sun, attached to the bomb with a steel screw.
Black horsehair mane, in the form of a brush ending in a floating tail with an approximate length of 70 cm.
Interior leather liner cut into wolf's teeth.
