Address and postmark in red ink: "To Mr. / Mr. François Antoine Turbil, also known as Castoursse (?) of Lemsevillar * in the canton of Lemssebour in the department of Mont Blanc, Lemsevillar".

* Lanslevillard is a former French commune located in Haute Maurienne.

Hilaire Turbin informs his parents of his good health and hopes the same for them. He deserted but was caught by a rural policeman and returned to Padua, waiting to rejoin the Corps. He asks his parents not to reply to him, but to wait for him to write to them.

No reference to the regiment, battalion, or company.
