SIGNED AUTOGRAPH LETTER BY JEAN MOLLARD from the Citadel of Alexandria on August 15, 1813, TO HIS PARENTS residing in Albanne (Mont-Blanc). 18856-11
Letter from a captured deserter.
Letter with address and the inscription "Very urgent" to "Mr. / Mr. Jean Baptiste Millard, farmer in the commune of Albanne, Mont Blanc Department, Canton of Saint Jean de Maurienne, at the poste restante in St Jean de Maurienne, commune of Albanne."
Jean Mollard hopes that his parents are in good health, his own is good. He has learned that the guards are looking for him at the family farm, as he did desert but was caught and is currently in the 6th company of the Pioneers garrisoned at the Citadel of Alexandria.
"At the Citadel of Alexandria on August 15, 1813."
"I am writing these few words to let you know about my health. It is very good at present, thank God. I hope that yours is the same and that the whole family is in good health.
My dear father, I have been informed by my lieutenant that the guards are at your place to take me. It is true that I deserted but I was captured within 24 hours each time and I am now in the 6th company of the Pioneers garrisoned at the Citadel of Alexandria. I ask you, dear father, to immediately take this letter to Mr. the prefect of St Jean de Maurienne to have the guards at your place informed, as I am in the 6th Company of the Pioneers...
Signed: Jean Mollard."
