"Since October 1, we left Upper Catalonia, we have been to Barcelona, Tarragon, Tortosa, Lérida, and Zaragoza and covered a large part of Navarre..."
"...we were between Madrid and Valencia in the pass of a mountain when the enemy, in the belief of capturing us, fell upon us with 8,000 infantrymen and 500 cavalrymen. It was in vain that they demanded our surrender. The intrepidity of our soldiers and the fear of falling into the hands of these bandits made us break through their bayonets [...]. Nearly half of our regiment has been killed or wounded..."

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:
The Army of Aragon is one of the French armies fighting in Spain during the Spanish War. Existing between 1809 and 1814, its operational territory consists mainly of Aragon, to which, depending on the times, Catalonia and the Kingdom of Valencia are added.
