Brass hilt. Guard with three branches marked "A12186". Cap with short tail. Handle made of wood wrapped in calf leather with brass filigree. Straight blade with hollow edges, length 87.3 cm, back of the blade engraved "Mre d'armes de Châtt 7bre 1883 = cavalry light model 1822 = transformed 1883". Brown buff leather knot. Steel scabbard with a single ring for suspension also marked with the saber "A12455".
