HUNTER CAVALRY GUARD IMPERIAL DOLMAN, Second Empire. 26277

Dolman model 1857, entirely in light green wool, fastening straight at the front with 18 smooth tin bell buttons. The front is adorned with 18 white wool braids. The back is decorated at the top with a Hungarian knot in white piping. The seams and false pockets are trimmed on each side with white piped braid. Collar in white braided wool uniform cloth. Garance (madder red) wool cuffs bordered with white wool braid forming a point. Inner lining in ecru canvas bearing the regiment's ink stamps: imperial crown, followed by the inscription "Ch. de la G". Interior waist belt in brown Morocco leather.

Poor condition, only one row of buttons is present - not of the model (Third Republic) - moth holes and significant loss on the sides of the wool, partially replaced inner lining at a later date.
